First Impressions of Prison School

Well hello there, The Gentleman Snark here once again to give you another first impression. This Summer Season of anime has certainly given weight to many interesting series. Especially the more savory ones… SIGH~ This is going to be one of those provocative reviews. Hope you are ready to do some “HARD” time as we get into Prison School.

Prison School anime is written by Michiko Yokote, directed by Tsutomu Mizushima, and music by Kōtarō Nakagawa. There is a Manga adaptation by Akira Hiramoto that currently has 17 volumes, but I have not read any of it. The Anime is produced by studio J.C.Staff. The Prison School is highly known for its provocative, ecchi, and almost borderline erotic humor. If you are looking for a series with a serious plot involving prison life you have come to the wrong place. Currently, I have watched 4 episodes, which are the only ones available at this time.

The story follows a traditional all-girls school finally becomes a Coed school, allowing the opposite sex to take part in school. Thus introducing Hachimitsu Private Academy, which was revered as an elite all-girls’ boarding school. Until they decided to have guys take part in this feminine wonderland. Thus we get introduced to our Main Character, Kiyoshi Fujino, and 4 other guys I can’t be bothered to mention. Eventually, they guys are in for a rude awakening once they begin their school life. If you are expecting a massive harem series, where the MC gets all the heroines. You are out of luck, for as far as I can see. My main issues in the beginning of the series is the 5 male characters act like pathetic closet pervs that never spoke to a girl in their entire prepubescent lives. From the first episode, a few guys try at the pitiful attempts to talk to the girls. Conveniently, Kiyoshi is the first one to actually break the ice with one of the girls, which works out for him as he manages to get a date. However, all that goes to ruin later when the guys decide to peep on the girls changing. The peeping operation was the highlight of the episode takes place as we see the comedic skits of Kiyoshi sneaking into the changing room to the other guys getting caught and put on display for a public execution(except not really).

As punishment for the guys peeping tom incident, they are forced to live in the school’s prison, otherwise, they face expulsion. After watching the 4 episodes, I can say this is where the show thrives in their comedic aspect. Throughout the course of the show, I was always laughing at something. The inside/sexual innuendos, some are just outrageous such as the Underground Student Council. For example:  Meiko Shiraki(the vice president), aka Whip Hand(or Titty-chan), is depicted as a massive sadist to the core. Not to mention how her beating towards the guy looks like some massive S&M play(where is Mr. Grey when you need him?). It only gets worse from there. Then we have Hana Midorikawa, the secretary(and Karate Maniac), she is the typical seemingly innocent girl. She becomes utterly obsessed with watching our main character take a piss, needless to say, she got her wish in more ways than one….. Finally, we have  Mari Kurihara, the president (and crow whisperer), who is basically the Ice Queen that shows no remorse towards the guy, because of her dad(?), so shows a lot of cruelty. I suspect our main character will find a way to get close through happenstance.

The animation is pretty good as far as comedy animes go. The colors and movement are vibrant and…graphic… It has no initial faults in that area that I can pick up from. Though, I was too busy laughing most of the time to really tell. The BGM from what I’ve heard seems to fit the fast pace prison life and the comedic antics of the characters. The Opening theme is called “Ai no Prison” (Prison of Love) by Kangoku Danshi. The Ending theme is called “Tsumibukaki Oretachi no Sanka”(Our Sinful Hymn) by Kangoku Danshi. The themes get the job done. I’m not a particular fan of either one, but they do the job of showcasing the anime.

In conclusion, Prison school is just a good ecchi/comedy anime. If you are expecting a serious plot, look elsewhere. However, if you came to have a good laugh/get some good fapping material. The Prison School is the anime for you. Currently, Prison School is licensed by Funimation so feel free to make use of those services. So I will be taking my leave. So until next time folks, See Ya!
